The Centre Pompidou is a museum for contemporary art and cinema, and offers space for conferences and concerts. Their large collection of works inspired numerous children’s activities and exhibitions. The Centre was opened in 1977 and named after president Georges Pompidou (1911-1967). His dream was to create an original cultural institution in the heart of Paris, completely focused on modern and contemporary creation, where the visual arts would connect to theatre, music, cinema, literature and spoken word.

Their photography collection ( Cabinet de Photographie ) boasts 943 names and counting, ranging from art to documentary photography.

Centre Pompidou has a well-stacked shop, an online database with their collection, educational dossiers (some of them in English) and a video channel with events, exhibitions and artist profiles. In French only.

The Bibliothèque Kandinsky is the Pompidou’ss research and documentation centre open to professionals, curators and other researchers.
