The Kunsthalle Wien is the exhibition institution of the City of Vienna for international contemporary art. At two locations in Vienna (one functioning as a laboratory, at Karlsplatz, and a exhibitions venue in the Museums Quartier), the Kunsthalle Wien presents cross-genre, cross-border trends in the arts.

The Kunsthalle Wien considers itself a workshop, a lab and a forum for contemporary aesthetic and social views. To effectuate this, the museum offers a program ranging from photography, video, film and installations to new media. Large, subject-specific exhibitions present developments and correlations, from Modernism to the present-day art world. Other shows are dedicated to retrospectives of important contemporary artists and significant contributions in Austrian art after 1945. Documentary photographers like Charles Fréger are occasionally shown. Though not a hotspot for documentary photography, it’s might be an interesting venue if you have an exhibition to offer. The Kunsthalle also offers custom made educational programs.
