The photography course at the Photography department at the University of Applied Sciences and Arts in Hannover , is an initiative by professor Rolf Nobel, who has made Hannover into a hotspot for photojournalism.

Students of this direction are educated to work in the field of the magazine,- book,- and daily newspaper photography. Further spheres are the photography for public relations, to work as a picture editor for photo agencies, magazines and newspapers, the art buying in advertisement and the curatorial work for galleries, trusts and museums.

Unique to this course is the sponsor agreement with LUMIX, providing the 100 students with camera’s and other equipment.

The photography department organizes the LUMIX Festival of young Photojournalism / Lumix Festival für jungen Fotojournalismus together with photographers association FreeLens.
