The Soros Foundation is part of the Open Society Institute, a big organisation with a range of programs about the global empowerment of 'vibrant and tolerant democracies whose governments are accountable to their citizens’. One of the Foundation’s initiatives is the Documentary Photography Project which 'supports photographers whose work addresses social justice and human rights issues that coincide with OSI's mission'. The Documentary Photography Project currently consists of: Audience Engagement Grants , Discretionary Grants , the Moving Walls exhibition and Production Grants . Individual photographers as well as organizations are eligible.

Extra information: The OSI has 7 offices in several USA and European cities. The Moving Walls exhibitions can be visited at the OSI offices in New York and Washington DC, and online . Most applications for grants and funding have an annual deadline.
