Aside from exhibition programs in ten of Hamburg's major museums, the galleries' program includes exhibitions of international and national artists. Historical and contemporary photography is presented, showing the entire scope of the medium.

The Triennial doesn’t accept project proposals.

The 5th triennial will take place between 1st - 6th of April 2011 in Hamburg. This edition’s theme will be ‘Crossing Boundaries. Photo-Film-Photo’.

Directors of the festival are Henriette Väth-Hinz and Helmut Sander.

The Photo Triennial is co-founder of the web initiative photofestival union.
