La Fábrica promotes the development of contemporary culture through cultural projects in various fields, ranging from photography and fine art to literature, cinema, music and performing arts. It publishes magazines, develops exhibitions, houses a bookshop, offers lectures etc. La Fábrica was created in 1994 by Alberto Anout; Alberto Fesser joined as a partner in 1998.

La Fábrica Gallery was created at the beginning of 2003 and focuses on the promotion of Spanish and international contemporary art. It pays special attention to new media, photography and video.

La Fábrica started to organise travelling exhibitions in 1999. Some of them were created for the festival PhotoEspaña and toured the world after the festival was over. Now the Exhibitions Area of La Fábrica designs and carries out new projects by both Spanish and international artists and takes them around the globe.

La Fábrica also has a publishing department with collections and magazines about photography, arts, architecture, literature and, graphic design. For instance: Magazine Matador, magazine Ojo de Pez, magazine Eñe, collection Photobolsillo (the basic library of Spanish photographers), collection Masterpieces, collection The Bbiblioteca BlowUp, collection Conversation with photographers and several signature books and catalogues. La Fábrica Editorial Publishing House in Madrid is not only the place to buy photography books, it’s also a venue where book presentations and encounters with writers and photographers are held.
