The room of prints Leiden - Study and documentation center for photography / prentenkabinet Leiden is a public institution, part of the university library of Leiden.
Fifty years ago, the room of prints decided to start collecting photographs as well as illustrations. It now owns a collection of original photohistoric objects, representing the many aspects of photography over time. The focus of the collection lies on the period 1839 till the current day, with an emphasis on Dutch photography and the diversity in procedures.
As of August 2009, a part of the collection is represented on the website of
‘the memory of Holland’ .
The collection contains 4500 photos with a connection to the previous Dutch-Indies of the 19th and early 20th century.
