The Institut Néerlandais , established in 1957, is one of the oldest foreign cultural centres in Paris. It organises exhibitions, colloquiums, debates and courses to learn the Dutch language. It offers a stage for Dutch culture in France and a place for Dutch-French dialogue. The institute mediates between French and Dutch cultural institutions and artists, often in partnerships with French institutions.

The Institut Néerlandais closely follows what’s happening in the Dutch cultural world. It also actively initiates projects and issues assignments to Dutch artists and curators. In recent years, the institute has gained international attention with remarkable photography exhibitions.

The Institut Néerlandais has two residencies: the Maison Van Doesburg, which was built by artists Theo and Nelly van Doesburg (De Stijl), and Atelier Holsboer at the Cité Internationale des Arts. Artists are selected in cooperation with The Netherlands Foundation for Visual Arts, Design and Architecture / Fonds BKVB.

Jeanne Wikler is director of the Institut Néerlandais.
