The Internationaal Fotofestival Knokke-Heist annually presents four main exhibitions around a central theme plus the regular sideshows. The festival addresses several topics about the photographic medium and related subjects, and usually incorporates a few documentary projects as well. Traditionnaly, the World Press Photo exhibition has its Belgian premiere at this festival.

Each year a prize is awarded to one of the participants. See fotowedstrijd for more information.

The festival is held at different locations in and around Knokke-Heist, which also happens to be a historical seaside resort.
